On a pleasant Tuesday evening on 11th June, 2 RiverLifers, 2 volunteers from West Lothian Angling club, 2 Scout leaders, 1 Scout parent volunteer and around 20 Scouts met at a trout fishery for any evening of fly fishing and to progress further towards the Scouts’ Angling Activity badge.  There was, however, one snag – I had booked the fishery for 11th July.  We were a month early and the fishery is shut on a Tuesday.

So, a swift change of plan… the two volunteers went fishing on the Almond and the rest of us headed to the Scout hut for some casting practice, invertebrate ID and dodgeball.  We will reconvene in August for the final session of their Angling badge.
