To gain their Angler Activity Badge, Scouts need to become familiar with different fishing techniques, necessary safety precautions and rivercraft. Over the past two years, the 9th West Lothian Scouts have been working towards their badge with the help of RiverLife and our Intro to Angling programme.

From the first session with this group – showing river processes using our interactive river table – to the casting lessons and several days fishing, we have seen their skills and enthusiasm for fish and rivers grow.

September saw the last of these sessions where the Scouts had an opportunity to further their fly and bait fishing skills at Clubbiedean reservoir – with 5 fish being caught overall.  The Forth Rivers Trust would like to thank the instructors from Scottish Angler’s National Association, the Scouts and all the volunteers that have been involved for making it such a great experience.
